Eating Out, Eating Well

Welcome to the Eating Out Eating Well Framework and Code of practice for children's menus.

To improve health across Scotland, we want food outlets – big and small – to get involved and help improve the food on offer when we eat out.

Customers are looking for healthier and more sustainable options when eating out. All too often the less healthy options are playing the starring role and healthier food is pushed off stage. To improve health, we need to work together, so the healthier and more sustainable foods are in the spotlight.

Public Health Scotland and Food Standards Scotland have developed the new Eating Out, Eating Well Framework. They have also developed a children’s code of practice. Food outlets will be offered sector specific guidance and support.

We are excited to embark on this journey with food outlets from all sectors. Together we can put healthier and more sustainable food in reach for customers

Please note the EOEW and COP are being piloted by a range of food outlets throughout 2024. This will generate learning on the process and impact and will inform next steps. For more information contact phs.eatingouteatingwell@phs.scot
